This course introduces you to the need for management control and how management control is enacted in practice by addressing productive and counterproductive effects of management control systems. Further, it focuses on financial result controls and thus on the management control practices frequently used to measure and incentivize financial performance in firms. 

The course combines practically-relevant insights with cutting-edge theoretical and empirical research on performance measurement and management control. For this reason, the course is organized as a lecture with integrated seminar. It includes the discussion of theoretical concepts, business cases, and research papers.

This course introduces the theoretical foundations of responsible management and explores how organizations can integrate sustainability considerations into their strategy development and implementation. It examines how different stakeholders (e.g., governments, civil society, employees, consumers, investors, supply chain partners) shape responsible business conduct and influence organizational decision-making.

This course is offered as a lecture with an integrated seminar and follows a “flipped classroom” approach.

The "Methoden der Sekundärforschung im Controlling" seminar helps students develop the knowledge and skills needed to independently and critically analyze and address a research question relevant to both practice and academia within the field of controlling.

The Fachseminar Controlling follows on from the "Methoden der Sekundärforschung im Controlling" seminar and builds upon the components developed there. 

Both seminars impart distinct yet complementary competencies that are collectively essential for successfully writing a thesis at the Chair.
